Charles E. Hughes III, MD, FACS

Charles E. Hughes III, MD currently works as the Director of the Indianapolis Institute for Plastic Surgery. He has practiced in the Indianapolis area for over 25 years. Among many firsts, Dr. Hughes studied suction lipectomy and body sculpting with the French inventor of the technique, Dr. Gerard Illouz, and he was one of the first to perform ultrasonic liposuction in the U.S. Dr. Hughes studied at the United States Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. and earned his Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. He continued his education and earned his MD from Northwestern University Medical School and served his internship at Passavant Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Hughes served his residency in general surgery and plastic surgery at Northwestern and a fellowship in surgical oncology with the American Cancer Society.

Presently, Dr. Hughes is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Marion County, Ind., and American Medical Societies, the American Society of Cleft Lip and Palate, the Council of Plastic Surgery Societies Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPS), the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). He was also the past President of the Lipoplasty Society of North America (LSNA), past member of the Board of Directors of ASAPS and past member of the Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction Task Force ASPS/Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation (PSEF).


Steven Teitelbaum, MD, FACS

Steven Teitelbaum, MD is a board certified plastic surgeon. He graduated with high honors from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in anatomy and physiology, and received his medical degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Teitelbaum completed a residency in general surgery at Harvard Medical School’s Beth Israel Hospital, and completed training in plastic surgery at the University of Southern California.

He has participated in multiple clinical trials for various breast implant manufacturers, and has a large experience with liposuction using both internal and external ultrasound assist. He was a principal investigator in the UltraShape multi-center controlled clinical study.

Currently, Dr. Teitelbaum is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgery (LASPS) and the California Society of Plastic Surgery (CSPS). He is very active in organized plastic surgery, serving on the Ethics Committee for CSPS, Co-Chair of the CSPS legislative committee, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the LASPS). He serves on numerous national committees, including the Emerging Technologies/Hot Topics Committee (ASPS/ASAPS).


William P. Coleman III, MD

Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Adjunct Professor of Surgery (Plastic Surgery) at Tulane University Health Sciences Center

William P. Coleman III, MD currently serves as Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Adjunct Professor of Surgery (Plastic Surgery) at Tulane University Health Sciences Center. He graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine and trained in the Tulane Department of Surgery and the Tulane Department of Dermatology.

Dr. Coleman is recognized as an international authority and one of the pioneers of body contouring in the dermatologic field, serving as a guest professor to teach liposuction in South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. He is the author of over 50 textbook chapters and scientific articles on liposuction. He also serves as the Editor In Chief for the journal Dermatologic Surgery.

He is the current Vice President of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). Dr. Coleman has also served as the President of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS): 1999-2000.


Sue Ellen Cox, MD

Clinical Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina Department of Dermatology

Sue Ellen Cox, MD is the Medical Director at Aesthetic Solutions of Chapel Hill, and is also Clinical Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina Department of Dermatology. A graduate of New York University, she earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University. She completed her residency in dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and she is now board certified in dermatology, specializing in surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Cox is one of the nation’s pioneers and experts in Botox® Cosmetic, fillers and tumescent liposuction. She continues to be involved with ongoing research studies investigating the effectiveness of various liposuction techniques.

She is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Liposuction Council (ASDSLC), American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). Dr. Cox is also the Feature Editor for Liposuction Council Bulletin for the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery.


Robert Weiss, MD, FACS
Director, Maryland Laser, Skin & Vein Institute
Associate Professor of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

Robert A. Weiss, MD is currently the Director of the Maryland Laser, Skin & Vein Institute and is also Associate Professor of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Weiss trained in dermatology at the Johns Hopkins University after graduating from Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His expertise is in the area of varicose vein treatment, sclerotherapy, lasers, tumescent liposuction and cosmetic dermatology surgery.

Dr. Weiss is the Vice President of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS). He is a Fellow for the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). Presently he sits on the Editorial Board for Lasers in Surgery and Medicine and Dermatologic Surgery journals. He also served as the President of the American College of Phlebology and is Treasurer for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS).

Spencer Brown, PhD

Director of Research of the Plastic Surgery Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center

Spencer Brown, PhD has served as the Director of Research of the Plastic Surgery Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center since 2000. Prior to this role, he served on National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Study Sections. Dr. Brown established new clinical and basic research programs in LDL metabolism at Duke University Medical at Durham, N.C. Prior to that, Dr. Brown was a Research Instructor and Assistant Professor at Duke with work on a NHLBI Study, cholesterol imprinting; LDL 9Lp[a] and HDL metabolism. Dr. Brown received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, with his thesis on cholesterol metabolism in 1984. Dr. Brown completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Section of Atherosclerosis and Lipid Metabolism at the Baylor College of Medicine.
