Pre-clinical trials involving animal models have been conducted, followed by ex-vivo trials, and multi-center in-vivo clinical trials. All confirmed the safety and effectiveness of the UltraShape procedure.
Between 2004 and 2005, during clinical trials of the UltraShape™ Contour I system conducted in a variety of centers in the USA, UK, and Japan, 137 patients underwent a single treatment. Results showed that post-treatment, there was, on average, a 2 cm reduction in circumference.
In 2006, an independent multiple treatment clinical trial, “
Body Contouring by Non-Invasive Transdermal Focused Ultrasound”, included 30 patients that underwent 3 treatments at 30 day intervals using the UltraShape
Contour I. Results showed 100% response rate with no adverse effects on patients following the 3 treatments. The study also demonstrated a mean fat thickness reduction of 2.28 cm and a mean circumference reduction of 3.95 cm. The results of the study were published in the April 2007 issue of
